Teach in Prison Selection Workshop

Have you ever heard of the school-to-prison pipeline? How about the prison-to-school pipeline?
Did you know that prisons are exempt from environmental standards?
Did you know about sentencing disparities between crack cocaine and cocaine powder?
Have you ever wanted to know how to help incarcerated students?

This semester, Teach in Prison will be hosting a selection workshop on Saturday, January 21st from 10:00am to 1:00pm (Location TBD), for new tutors interested in participating in the popular DeCal! During this time we will be covering what Teach in Prison is and does. We will also be discussing the selection process.

The first official day of Teach in Prison is Monday, January 23rd, this workshop is MANDATORY for new tutors.


Reminders:
Please be sure to be there no later than Berkeley Time!
You are now able to participate in the DeCal if you are 20 years or older!
The DeCal will be Mondays from 6:00pm-8:00pm.

Teach in Prisoner returners are highly encouraged to attend this training (an email will be sent with more details for Fall 2016 returners).

For the workshop you will NEED TO BRING:
1. Your social security number.
2. A valid government issued ID*
We advise that whichever ID you decide to use will be the one you bring with you every week to show at the different entrance points at San Quentin should you be selected and cleared.

International students bring your passport.
DACA students can participate, too!
